Ballyfermot College

The refurbishment of 1960's School

This is a refurbishment of a school to resolve difficulties with energy loss, ventilation and water ingress. It involved the replacement of the roof and the refurbishment of the interior. The building is a 3rd level educational VEC facility with circa 1600 students. The project included:

  • the removal of asbestos elements,
  • an upgrade of the thermal performance,
  • the replacement of roof finishes (4100sqm) and roof glazing (900sqm),
  • the renewal of the services installations and the re-finishing of the interior.

It was a client condition that the college remain open throughout the works, which required that the works be undertaken over two phases to minimise disruption to students and staff. Phase I is complete. Phase II will be completed by September.
