Low cost home with quality finishes

This is a new house in Fermanagh. The initial brief was to restore a derelict cottage on a limited budget. We advised the clients, on the basis of cost, to postpone the cottage restoration and build a new home on the site. The new house is placed parallel and ten meters away from the cottage. A courtyard is formed between the two. The form of the house is long and barrel vaulted. The barrel encloses the maximum space with least material and is reminiscent of agricultural sheds in the landscape. A porch opens to the courtyard. At one end, the house splits into two levels, the lower is set into the ground and the upper within the vault. At the other end, a tall bright open plan kitchen, living, dining is created.
