This self-initiated project demonstrates our ability to see and deliver on the potential of a site. A derelict warehouse on a back lane in Dun Laoghaire has been transformed into a bright positive studio space for the practice.The project involved the typical challenges of refurbishment, eg, multiple neighbours, asbestos removal, reroofing, no builders compound, no drainage, etc. An 18 meter long rooflight throws daylight deep into the plan and the deep retrofit has resulted in comfortable well insulated building. The project will act as an example for the regeneration of underused back lanes.
