New build house in Architectural Conservation Area

This is a proposal for a new tailor made home on a gap site in Donnybrook, Dublin 4. The site, located in an Architectural Conservation Area or ACA, is at the end of a road of fine Victorian redbrick houses. The design while contemporary is a response to this context and is about relating in scale, form and material to the neighbourhood. The front of the house faces north. The chimney stacks along the road are referenced in the design with a pop up stone clad rooflight. The result is a north facing house with lots of sunlight.
