Conseravtion of a Victorian town house
This is a beautiful Victorian semi-detached property located in the heart of Rathmines.
The house is a protected structure and this project combines conservation work with a new large extension to the rear.
In the existing house the stairs landings created a split level which housed bedrooms and bathrooms. Our project opens up the ground level to enable an open plan modern kitchen with dining-room towards the large south facing garden.
The main entrance is visually linked to the rear garden via an arched way.
The roof of the extension is split, to avoid blocking the view of the upper rooms.
It is covered with green sedum, which acts as an insulation blanket, but also as a very nice roof garden.
